The Intel 320 could just as easily have been called the X25-M G3, as that is exactly the product we have here today. Using an updated version of the controller used in the previous two X25 series drives, the 320 is Intels mainstream oriented solid state product, whilst the firms Marvell based 510 series covers the high end. We test to see how it compares to its more expensive stable mate, as well as SandForce drives from OCZ, Corsair and G.Skill.

G.Skill PC3-18400 (2300MHz) PI Series 4GB Kit @ tweaktown.com
[Mar-10-10] (0 Comments)

When I think of memory companies that want nothing but speed, only a few really come to mind and one of them would have to be G.Skill. While so many companies these days produce high end memory, we only really see a few leading the pack and when I say that I mean we see the same few companies ahead of everyone with most other companies playing catch up when it comes to speed. While most companies are sitting around the PC3-17600 mark these days, G.Skill as always has kicked it up a notch with a PC3-19200 kit and a PC3-18400 one which we have on hand today. Like most high performance memory kits at the moment, the modules are aimed at P55 platforms due to them coming in dual-channel packets.

Kingston HyperX DDR3-2000 CL8 KHX2000C8D3T1K3/6GX 6GB Memory Kit @ tweaktown.com
[Nov-26-09] (0 Comments)

The HyperX line-up of memory hasn’t always been the first choice by enthusiasts; not to say that the memory is poor in anyway, it’s just that the likes of Corsair, OCZ and G.Skill usually push their memory modules faster and work on a lower quantity at the high-end by vigorously hand picking each memory chip that is put onto a memory module. These memory makers strive for the absolute bleeding edge of memory technology, while Kingston’s HyperX brand sticks to a more moderate level, but they are relatively still fairly high at the top end.Kingston is no slouch here today, though; no, not at all. In our hands we have a Kingston HyperX DDR3-2000 triple-channel 6GB memory kit with a cache latency rating of 8-8-8-24 at 1.65 volts and it also comes with Intel XMP support to allow for easier overclocking on Intel X58 Express based motherboards that are teamed up with a Core i7 processor.

G.Skill Trident PC3-16000 6GB DDR3 Memory Kit @ tweaktown.com
[Jul-22-09] (0 Comments)

G.Skill was one of the first memory companies to really show up as a competitor in the performance market after companies like Corsair and OCZ and dominated for a number of years. As time goes on we've seen more and more companies enter the market meaning that there's more competition than ever. What this ultimately means for everyone is we get faster, better and cheaper memory. Today we'll be checking out a 6GB PC3-16000 kit from G.Skill that sits in the company’s Trident series. We haven't seen anything from this series before so hopefully it can impress us. Of course PC3-16000 means that our memory is clocked at a whopping 2000MHz which well and truly places it in the high end segment.

It may not have anything like the funky and more importantly, moddable (but also patented), DHX+ heatsinks on the Corsair but a case with good airflow should keep the G.Skill cool enough. Moreover, they have a lifetime warranty to cover mishaps and being low profile they're less likely to chance interference with a large CPU heatsink.

Though G.Skill's kit managed to melt it's wax wings on the path togreatness, it still managed to impress a fair bit before it plummeted backto the earth. Though it managed only 1,000 MHz, this is still a 25%overclock, so to speak - something which is quite impressive on a kit thatruns for under $90. Even if you don't intend to overclock, these modulespack a fair punch with their low latencies, great build quality, and oddly, lower cost than the rest of the flock. Considering these few graces, as wellas the small tokens inside the package, I'd have to say that I recommendthis kit to anyone looking for a quick fix in terms of a memory upgrade -something that will simply drop in and work - now that's peace of mind.

During our overclocking tests we could get DDR600 speeds out of the sticks, at a rather small voltage of 2.8V. The best about this memory? It's the price. You can find a 2x 512MB kit for around $170 online.

TCC5 is not a brand new replacement for TCCD, it is simply the samechip speed binned to DDR466 instead of DDR500 and has been available for aslong as TCCD. The performance of your TCC5 product now relies heavily on thebinning process used by the memory manufacturers (OCZ, Corsair, G.Skill etc)but if they do a good job you should get identical performance to currentTCCD.

The Winbond UTT chip based G.Skill Extreme PC3200 2-2-2-5 1GB Kit lived up to our expectations. With the right motherboard, these modules wil produce the best performance any PC3200 can offer. Its high overclockability at ultra low latencies will complement the high HTTs the nf4 chipsets can afford.

To sum up, if you want the coolest modules on the block and youre feeling flush, the Corsair Xpert is in a niche of its own. Paired with Samsungs TCCD modules, theres a world of performance to be had from them at modest Vdimm. Otherwise, the G.Skill and OCZ both come recommended at around the £200 mark, with Corsairs XL PRO and XL PT under that price, too.
